UpSlide Issues when upgrading Office

When you upgrade or downgrade Office, a repair might be necessary to make Add-ins work properly.

For UpSlide, the link system can stop working and show one of the errors below.

  • Example: Upgrade Office 2010 to 2013 without removing Office 2010. If you later uninstall Office 2010, you can encounter this message:

  • Another Example: Install Lync 2013 on a computer with Office 2010 installed. UpSlide may display this error message when you try to export a chart into Word or PowerPoint:

In other cases the export simply won't work, and the update will display the following message:

Solution 1: Repair Office installation

This solution is even recommended by Microsoft when uninstalling an Office product while keeping another one (cf. message below).

Solution 2: Edit Registry

Open the Registry Editor, and go to HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\TypeLib\ Hive.

On this Registry Hive, you will find three subkeys, one for each Office Application:

  • Excel: HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\TypeLib\{00020813-0000-0000-C000-000000000046}\
    • 1.7 is for Office 2010
    • 1.8 is for Office 2013
    • 1.9 is for Office 2016
  •  Word: HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\TypeLib\{00020905-0000-0000-C000-000000000046}\
    • 8.5 is for Office 2010
    • 8.6 is for Office 2013
    • 8.7 is for Office 2016
  • PowerPoint: HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\TypeLib\{91493440-5A91-11CF-8700-00AA0060263B}\
    • 2.a is for Office 2010
    • 2.b is for Office 2013
    • 2.c is for Office 2016
  • Office Common: HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\TypeLib\{2DF8D04C-5BFA-101B-BDE5-00AA0044DE52}}\
    • 2.5 is for Office 2010
    • 2.7 is for Office 2013
    • 2.8 is for Office 2016

Keep only the Key that follow the Office Version you are using.
