PowerPoint: can I edit the divider slides or the table of contents?

If you edit these slides by adding shapes, they will be preserved when you update the table of contents (TOC).

Adversely, if you modify existing text, any update will overwrite your editions.

To save time during updates, divider slides and TOC slides are only recomputed if the text found on these slides need to be updated, excluding the slide indexes.

This means that you can edit the text in these slides and not have your edition overridden at the first update, as long as you don't make changes to the slide/section/subsection titles or add/remove slides to your presentation.
